[Weekly Retro] Callout to all Creatives

#283 - Jul.2026

Weekly Retro is a short e-mail with a wrap-up of ideas from the week, interesting links I found, and food for thought before you head off for the weekend.

Happy Friday!

After being out from posting online for a while but I'm back! :)

Here's an idea for the weekend:

Creativity is not a job title but a way of thinking.

In a world where trends lead towards becoming average, creative and critical thinking is our best tool for the hard problems ahead.

Not just artistic work is creative.

Lawyers can be creatives

Biologist can be creatives

Engineers can be creatives

Is not an special gift but a mental model that we can all learn. With practice.

🏃🏼‍♂️💨 The Agent the ran away

To gain access, the models identified and exploited a zero-day vulnerability (which we’ve now responsibly disclosed to the vendor) in the package registry cache proxy. With this access, our models performed a series of privilege escalation and lateral movement actions in our research testing environment until the models reached a node with Internet access.

The incident with OpenAI's model and Hugging Face shouldn't be ignore. Is not simple "oh-we-did-a-mistake" case but rather a concerning precedent on how, even the most advanced AI Labs in the world, can lose control and track of what their models are doing. The story is fascinating. Almost science fiction. Looking into the details, there are many technical details that are not yet clarified. And it worth doing it. In Public.

+1 on Hugging Face's CEO:  AI safety won't be solved by any single company working in secret.

Who’s Afraid of Chinese Models?
Everyone is worried about Chinese models, but the frontier labs will be fine; we need to enable open U.S. alternatives.

“If A is success in life...A = x + y + z. Work is x, play is y, and z is keeping your mouth shut.” — Extracted from an interview with Albert Einstein.
