Social Project Management

Abstract

(2013) The challenges for project management are increasing each day, as a result of social and economical changes. The level of complexity that teams deal today is much higher, and collaboration and sharing networks are now a need. However, communication failures and difficulties in effective collaboration within a team are today one of the main problems during the project execution, and companies perceive this. This paper seeks to analyze a new approach of project management applying social media concepts, highly used for informal interactions. Technology has made this rapid adoption of these services possible, and at the same time is becoming one of the main components in management evolution. The objective is to analyze the main social media components and study the benefits of the usage in a project management context. This analysis aims to expose practical applications of social media to build more effective collaboration platforms.
