Goodhart's law is a good reminder: "when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure." Metrics are **proxies** – they indicate a trend but don't tell the whole story. In isolation, they are just datapoints. Within a context, they become enablers for decision-making. A product isn't better simply because it has good metrics.
